Animals is a three-part film intended for people with moderate to severe to profound intellectual disability. Watching animals is fascinating, not to mention educational, as we have many behaviors in common. People with intellectual disabilities often spend little to no time with animals, and this film offers an alternative.
This film is quite different from other films about animals due to:
- The familiarity of the chosen subjects.
- The lengthy takes of each animal which allow viewers to look at the individual animals for many minutes at a time.
- A low-key use of the camera: no short shots or fast cuts.
- Natural environmental sounds only, no commentary or soundtrack.
Suitable for: Moderate intellectual disability; severe intellectual disability; profound intellectual and multiple disabilities; special schools; special education.
